How to Re-install Sophos Agent

There will be times when Sophos antivirus agent becomes corrupted, e.g. receiving errors, unable to update the software, etc and therefore have no alternative but to reinstall the agent. Before re-installing Sophos, you have to uninstall Sophos properly first. To uninstall Sophos, follow the instructions below:

1) Go in to services and stop all Sophos services

2) Once the services have been stopped, go in to Task Manager and click on the details tab.

3) End all task that displays Sophos symbol (you might see one process)

4) Launch Regedit

5) Navigate to the following location and delete the Sophos folder

6) Navigate to the following location and delete the text (NOT THE KEY THIS IS IMPORTANT!!)
a. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AllInit_DLLs (DELETE THE VALUE C:\PROGRA~2\Sophos\SOPHOS~1\SOPHOS~2.DLL)
b. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_DLLs (DELETE THE VALUE C:\PROGRA~2\Sophos\SOPHOS~1\SOPHOS~2.DLL)

7) Close the Registry

8) Reboot the computer

9) Navigate to the following locations and delete Sophos from the location
a. C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos and delete the parent folder
b. C:\ProgramData\Sophos and delete the parent folder

10) Install Sophos by browsing the Sophos End Point protection server by typing in the run command (\\servername\) and run the setup.exe file. (you will have to browse to different folders to locate the setup.exe)

11) Wait for 20 minutes until you see Sophos installed in add/remove programs
